The storm and Scunthorpe

Today has been a day of two halves
This morning we had to wait for high tide in order to be able to pass through the swing bridge and leave Whitby.
Whitby is known for its ability to entrap yachtsman for this very reason. The bridge only opens a few times each day so you can either leave at an often inconvenient time or stay another day.....then another and another..,.
Anyway despite the forecast which is one of strong winds tomorrow morning, we decided to leave and aim to get to Scunthorpe before the storm hits
This morning we went to see the steam locomotive that runs to Pickering several times each day. The driver even allowed us to stand on the footplate.... a schoolboy’s dream

And then it was time to leave.....
After leaving the harbour the wind picked up and was not in the direction predicted by the met office. The satnav said that we would arrive in Scunthorpe at 5 am... just in time for the big wind!!!!
Oh Dear!
As it turned out we arrived in Scunthorpe at 10.15 just as the wind picked up and we are now happily moored in a comfy marina
